Marker present in Utah-Beach representing the starting point of The Way to Freedom.
In reality, they measure 1m20 and weigh 435 kilos, there are 1200 in total because these markers crisscross the roads of France from Sainte-Mère-Eglise to Bastogne in Belgium.
The 4 rectangles of red color represent the 4 parts of the Way of Freedom:
– Sainte-Mère-Eglise / Cherbourg;
– Sainte-Mère-Eglise / Avranches;
– Avranches / Metz;
– Metz / Luxembourg / Bastogne.
The torch in the center is modeled on that carried by the Statue of Liberty.
On the white side you can see the mileage, the number and the directions.
It is important to know that the Way of Liberty led the allies to victory and the French army from the Normandy beaches to Belgium.
