Many thanks to the team of "musée de l'air et de l'espace du Bourget " who was in charge of the reassembly of the B26.

 

B26 Dinah Might

This American twin-engine aircraft is one of six existing in the World today. Lended by the Airspace Museum of le bourget this mythical bomber is painted in the colours of the 386th Bomb Group - 9th  USAAF- which is recognizable by the yellow stripe painted on the topof the drift located at the rear.

The distinctive "AN" indicates that it belonged to the 553rd Bomb Squadron, while the letter “Z” and “131 576” serial number show that the plane belonged to Major David H. Dewhurst Jr.

 

The painted yellow bombs indicate that Major Dewhurst had realized 85 war missions over enemy territroy in the European Theater before his return to the United States on august 31st 1944.
