Inside there is a pearl. D Day remnants and testimonies, in great number, are assembled and explained. In the beginning, there was only a wound : a german strong point of brutal concrete, a hideous reminder of barbarity and war. Then came its successful transformation, thanks to the initiative of Michel de VALLAVIEILLE, into shrine of remembrance and of gratitude for the liberation by the allies. Located on the very site of the U.S Landing of June 6th 1944, Utah Beach Museum recounts the military and technical exploits which made famous the beach of "La Madeleine". Vestiges can still be seen on the beach but the most valuable things are preserved in the Museum. It was built around the strategic bunker WN5, in the exact place where American Troops arrived on french soil on the 6th June 1944. The aim of the museum is to convey the memory of the events that took place in June 1944, and so it relives the history of the landings along with its human and technical prowess.
