Dedication of the Easy Company Monument - Brécourt

The history of the project started in 2004. Marco KILIAN friend of Shifty Powers and Earl McClung (Veterans Easy company) was in Bois Jacques woods in Bizory/Bastogne Belgium. Walking there Shifty said that they would like to have something there to remember their buddies who were KIA during the Battle of the Bulge. Later one, drinking a glass of beer together, Marco promissed them to build them a monument. As we are Dutch people we decided that if we can build a monument in Belgium we at least should try to do the same in Holland. So on June the 10th 2005 we dedicated the first E-Co monument in Belgium and 4 days later the second monument in Nuenen Holland. Aprox. a year later Herb told us that he think it should be wonderful when we could commemorate every E-Co KIA at the place where they lost their live. So we started again. The monument in Belgium carries the names of the KIA's of the Battle of the Bulge, the monument in Holland carries the names of the KIA's of Operation Market Garden and now the Monument in Normandy will carry the names of the KIA's of Operation Overlord.
