Detailed report of the day (2)

D-Day on Utah Beach was a total success as much from a military as from a technical point of view. Over 20,000 GI's, 1,720 vehicles and 1,695 tons of supplies reached the french soil. the longest day finally came to an end and the American Army had established a solid bridgehead from the beach.

Military success and the guarantee of tropp sustenance were largely dependent on the efficiency of the supply chain and of its mechanical resources. Over the weeks following the landings, fileds and meadows were rapidly transformed into depots. From time to time the American army carefully selected German prisoners.
